JPEG · PNG · WebP 25 MB / 1 imagesPixelate or cover selected areas of an image
Use a rectangular selection or a brush to add mosaic blocks or a solid cover to a photo or screenshot. Change block size, brush size and cover color, with undo and redo while you edit.
How to use this tool
- Open one image and choose Pixelate or Solid cover.
- Draw over the areas to hide. Zoom in to inspect boundaries, and undo or redo marks as needed.
- Generate and inspect the saved result. Download the edited copy while keeping your original separately.
Settings and output
- Brush and mosaic block sizes are measured in original-image pixels, so zooming the view does not change their coverage.
- Solid cover fully replaces selected pixels with the chosen color. Mosaic retains coarse visual information and should not be treated as guaranteed anonymization.
- Visual redaction and metadata are separate. The image tools re-encode pixels without copying source EXIF; use the EXIF tool for dedicated metadata inspection.
Common questions
Which option should I use to hide readable text?
Use Solid cover and include the entire text area. Mosaic can leave patterns or partial characters visible. Inspect the generated file at its actual size before sharing it.
Can I remove a mark from an exported image later?
Undo and redo work on the current editing commands. The exported image is flattened, so it does not contain an editable list of marks or a recoverable original layer.
